GEO-5607-P - Planning our technology-enabled future and the future of technology-enabled planning

Session Speakers
Session Description

Higher efficiency and quality are equally needed. Governments and businesses alike strive to cut cost and maintain quality in light of resource limitation. Community planning professionals are also challenged with the difficulty to achieve real collaborative decision making in an environment handicapped by intricacy and dominated by segregation of stakeholders, processes, and operations. Evidence-based analysis provides us with a unique opportunity to explore options and generate planning scenarios that can only be studied and understood using the various state of the art visualization and communication tools. This also helps in collaboratively and efficiently exploring future directions to foster sustainable growth and enhance quality of life. This session is intended to show the power of combining spatial and non-spatial technology to drive actionable intelligence in the face of many global and local challenges - with a focus on operational intelligence, mobile, cloud, big data and social media. it will also provide several examples and projects in which technology facilitated better decisions through collaboration among various stakeholders.
